Ciaran,

Why do I lose the font when I turn on SSL? I have been using AdminTools to create the new .htaccess file.

Any ideas?

I use Virtuoso and am coming to the possibility that my problems implementing SSL might be in the the template. The back end works fine, but I just can't get the front end to work - the domain name (http://www.ashwoodandstanton.com) is being dropped and the browser tries to go to https://index.php.....

Hello

In your templates styles.php (../templates/j51_virtuoso/php/styles.php) try replacing each instance of the following..

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://fonts.googleapis.com.....

With..

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="//fonts.googleapis.com.....

Basically taking out the http: allowing your browser to choose between http and https

Hi Ciaran, partial success.

I can now run the substance and Impulse templates with SSL but I lose the font on the home menu (drop down submenu titles and main menu titles not at home do use the correct font).

No change to Virtuoso, as it will not come up with SSL.

Thank you Peter

Substance: There appears to have been a Javascript conflict on some pages effecting the dropdown menu. I have installed jQuery Easy ensuring only one copy of jQuery is installed across your site resolving the issue.

Impulse: I am unable to locate any issues

Virtuoso: I have edited your styles.php slightly and it appears to be now working correctly.

Ciaran,

SSL was not turned on for the front end, so the Virtuoso site is still not working... it resolves to http://index.php/....

Thanks

Hi Peter

Checking your current Virtuoso site, your Google font (Source) appears to be loading fine in both the body text and the top menu? SSL appears to be currently turned on?

Just to confirm that this issue is template related could you try enabling one of the default Joomla themes (Beez) and see if the issue persists.

Thank you for fixing the fonts Ciaran.

I have now swapped .htaccess and the template as you suggested so it now looks as though the error is now within the host.

Thanks again.

Hi Ciaran this issue has arisen again as I have just put Let's Encrypt SSL on Lifestyle at http://www.cpltc.co.uk

I have lost the font on the header and menu, and I have already removed the https:// from the styles.php.

Just so that I do not send you on a wild goose case, this issue now is only with the fonts on the header and the menu since turning on SSL.

Thanks Ciaran.

Thank you Peter

Your fonts should be now loading correctly. Just a small typo in your amendments...

href="fonts.googleapis.com/

Changed to...

href="//fonts.googleapis.com/
