Ciaran,

I recently tried to add SSL to my Substance site. I modified the configuration.php file and the .htaccess file and then enabled SSL for the entire site in the Joomla Server Settings section. However, although the content is there, the https site (a) does not display the Slideshow module and (b) the fonts in the menu are not displaying. There may be more issues, but so as not to have downtime while I was trying to figure out the problems, I reversed the modifications I made and did not examine the site fully.

I suspect that there are some references in some files to “http://” instead of “http://”. However, I searched the folders and files that I thought could be at fault and did not come up with anything.

Before I invest a lot more time and frustration trying to figure this out, have you come up with this before or have any suggestions where I should look? Thanks!

Hello

By default Google fonts can cause issue when running SSL. May I suggest the following post on this query which should resolve the issue for you.

Thank you, Ciarán, for your prompt reply. Which " following post on this query" are you referring me to? No link was provided.

I assumed you were referring to the "Virtuoso Substance and Lifestyle and SSL" thread. As you suggested there, I changed the style.php file in template's php folder to delete "http:" in the several references to the fonts/googleapi" url and the fonts on my site are now displaying properly. I searched for other instances of "http:" and found none.

To try to get the slideshow module working, I went into the modules/mod_j51slideshow/mod_j51slideshow.php file and searched for "http:" and deleted that reference as well. The slideshow is now functioning as well!

Perfect! Thanks for your direction.
