Hi Ciaran,

since a couple of days, I experience serious problems with your extensions, included in the Skylar_J4 template. I'm not quite sure, but it appears to me that those issues started with the update to J4.3.3. But I'm not sure!

J51_LayerSlideshow_Lite

Some time ago, I had built a slideshow (with only one image) in position showcase-1a. This worked as expected.

Yesterday I tried to add a second image to that slideshow. When I try to select an image, I experience a number of strange (and seemingly random) effects:

  • Sometimes nothing seems to happen at all.
  • Sometimes the address of the image appears, but the image itself doesn't show up (s. below).
  • At least one time I was successful (s. below).

J51_ThumbsGallery

I tried to create a module of type J51_ThumbsGallery and to load it into an article using loadmodule (You can be assured that I know how to do that!).
But nothing seems to happen. Further analysis reveals that the module is rendered, but with a height of 0px.

I assume that you want access to my site. I have created a superuser for you. User ID and password are identical to those in my mail "Re: [#45003]: SKYLAR_J4: Issue With CSS Class 'caption' (Reply)", dated Jan. 5, 2023.

Best regards and many thanks -in advance- for your support!

Rolf

PS: As of today, the website does not yet contain any meaningful content apart from the menus and the module in showcase-1a. But the structure of the site is more or less finished. And I need a gallery and a slideshow.

Hi Rolf

May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

Thank you Rolf

On the Slideshow issue, the issue appears to be now resolved. At least testing in Chrome I can now add multiple images without issue. I did install the module from the latest download of the template prior to testing.

On the ThumbImages issue, the issue appears to be your module settings. I have changed the folder to the media/header folder and the images are now displayed. The previously selected folder rendered no images hence the 0px height.

Hi Ciaran

Thank you for your nearly immediate response! I tested the slideshow this morning with Firefox and it worked as expected. Also the Thumbsgallery is okay now.

In spite of this, I'm not completely happy with your answer:

  • You wrote that you installed the J51 - ImageHover Gallery from the latest template release. I took a look into the ZIP of Skylar_J4 V1.1.11 and realized that the version in mod_j51layerslideshow_lite.xml is still 1.0.0, identical to earlier template downloads. If the newer version has some change in it, it should get a new version number, IMHO.
  • Is there any good reason why the Thumbsgallery works with images from images/headers/flugzeuge, but doesn't work with images from images/Galerien/Flugzeuge?

Regards
Rolf

Hi Ciaran

I believe that I've solved the miracle regarding the Thumbsgallery. The problem is not the location of the images in the directory tree, but the suffix: .jpg works fine, .JPG doesn't.

When I export pictures from my Nikon camera, they have the .JPG suffix. Bulk uploading images to the Joomla images directory with FileZilla leaves them with the .JPG suffix. But currently, the Thumbsgallery will only accept .jpg.

You can easily test that on my website:

  • From the homepage (blog) in frontend, click on "Weiterlesen" ("Read more" ) on the first article, named "Lorem Ipsum". You will see 5 images of airplanes (even twice: once loaded by "loadmodule" in the article, the second one via module position contentbottom-b).
  • Use the Image Manager and navigate to images/Galerien/Flugzeuge.
  • Rename image DSC_0761.JPG to DSC_0761.jpg.
  • Clean cache and reload page in frontend.
  • Now you will see 6 images of airplanes.

It shouldn't be too difficult for you, to allow .JPG in the Thumbsgallery as well.

Best regards
Rolf

Update: I just tried to insert a photo with a .JPG suffix into a Joomla article. That didn't work, either.

I added JPG to the allowed extensions, but this didn't help.

Anyway, I typically don't use photos that directly come out of a camera. I usually prepare them on my PC with an image processing program. And the ones I knew export with a .jpg suffix.

Therefore, this is not a serious issue for me, because I know how to cope with the situation.

Thx and regards, Rolf

Hello

Please find attached an update to the ThunbsGallery module which will allow for both *.JPG and *.JPEG file extensions.
