Hi,

I have a problem with the Renovate template not showing properly on Apple devices such as Ipad3 and Iphone5.

When in responsive mode (responsive layout=yes) the area where the slider is at the homepage, shows up as an empty space on following pages. I have checked this for settings with the Renovate demo template and it shows the same.
Also auto resizing of objects does not work properly.
See attachment.

When responsive layout is switched off, the menu does not properly show in the top menuposition.
The menu shows all on the left and is hardly visible or useable for navigation. (and it looks like $h!..)
See attachement.

Regular webpage on PC.
An other thing is that the search facility and social icons when used show in the slider image. So hardly visible.
Also the 2nd+ level menu items fall over the search or icons when using the menu.
Could the search facility be mapped at top right position above main menu?
Can the social icons be mapped to right position at the bottom positions (fe at the right side of copyright info)?

My website is http://www.coach-en-paard.nl

Please advice how to solve these issues.

My personal preference is to show my website in regular mode on mobile devices (so responsive layout=no).
This way the layout of the webpage comes out much nicer on most devices i have seen it.
So a fix for the menu issue would have priority for me over fixing the responsive issue.

Please help out since my page is looked at quite often via mobile devices and the way it is now does not seem very professional.

Regards,
Robert.

Hi Robert

May I ask what version of iOS you are using on your devices? We have tested on both iOS 6 and Android devices where these issues don't appear to be present.

Hi Robert

We have since been able to test your site on both iPhone and iPad using iOS7. Sorry to say we are unable to replicate your issues (screenshots attached). A possible cause may be a problem with your internet connection timing out before you site if fully loaded. Clearing your cache and re loading may resolve the issue.

Hi Ciarán,

The attachments do not exactly show what i meant.
Sorry for not being clear enough.

The 1st att shows my site on ipad in responsive mode. I see the same so there is no problem.
The 2nd att shows the home page of my site on iphone, no problem there either.

However, if, on the iphone you navigate to any other page than the home page, you will see that the showcase (?) block still shows as an empty space. (on the homepage this is where the imageslider is).
It does btw, do the same on your demo website.
So that is issue nr. 1.

Issue nr. 2 you could not replicate with my website since it occurs with responsive layout OFF.
If i know when you test, i could switch it off but probably you get the same issue with your demosite with responsive layout set to NO.
Then you see on ipad (and iphone also) the menu that does not show correctly as also showing in my attachment in the 1st post. (156KB)

Do you see the difference between the issues I mean and the tests that you did to replicate?

Hi Robert

We hope to have resolved the issue regarding the top menu on smaller screen devices when the 'Responsive Layout' is disabled. If you could download the latest version of the template from your 'My Downloads' and simply install the template via your 'Extensions Manager' to update. None of your previous settings will be lost.

Thanks for the new version of the template!

There is some improvement ... however ... it's not perfect yet.

My template settings:
Responsive layout = NO
Template width (px) = 1080

In browsers i tested (IE 10, Chrome 31 and Firefox 25) the site works FINE both responsive YES and NO :cheer:

When testing on my iPhone5 and iPad3 it needs some more tweaking.
See attachements.

On the iPad a part of the right side of the webpage is cut off or content is off the template.
(see att 1,2,3,4 for various pages and the problem in landscape and portrait mode)
On the iPhone, basically the same problem.
(see att 5,6 for iPhone in portrait and landscape)

I hope you can solve this.

Meanwhile, thanks a lot for the support so far!! _O_

Sorry Robert.. we somehow missed your previous post.

May I ask are you having the same issue on the template demo? If not I suspect the issue may be related to the Contact subitem pusing out the width of the wrapper. To resolve this could you try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters..

.hornavmenu {right:80px;}

Could you also try temporarily disabling the sub item to your contact menu item and see if this resolves the issue?

Hi Ciarán,

I see what you mean, shifting the menu to the left.
That could be a good way to fine-tune.

However, that does not solve the problem, on the right side of every page i have a blank area of about 100px.
It looks as if somehow the template width is set to a fixed 980, mine is set to 1080, hence the blank area and the overlapping html modules?

Here are 2 atts.

1 showing your site at what i guess is a page set at Responsive layout = NO.
Mapping the menu to the left is not quite what you want there.
2 showing my site with the module unpublished
Still there is a blank area at the right

Never a dull moment huh :S

Hi Robert

I think we have finally gotten to the bottom of of this.

1. For the demo issue we hadn't updated the demo template with the latest version. Doing so has resolved the issue.

2. Could I ask you to add the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters...

#body_bg {min-width: 1080px;}

Where 1080px is the width of your template wrapper. Note this is to be added when responsive layout is turned off. Presuming this works correctly we will add it to the template core CSS in the next update.

Thank you for your patience on this issue (",)

Yessss, this does it! :woohoo:

Only one more minor thing to concider in a future update.

This only occurs on my iPad and iPhone.
The last, most right, menu option, contains a 2nd level menu.
Since the text is wider than the 1st level menu text, it moves the total view to the left leaving a blank space on the right side of the page. This space is the same width as the wider part of the 2nd level menu option.
On selection of the 2nd level menu item the page goes back to normal again.

I can live with it but for the template to be perfect it would be a nice fix.

Thanks a lot for your support!
Excellent job!!

Issue CLOSED

Robert.
