Novation Template - Ampersand in Joomla menu

Greetings,
I'm building this Joomla 2.5.6 site using Novation:

See the ampersand code in the menu?

Hours & Map

I've had this problem with other sites and fixed it by replacing the ampersand in the Menu Item Title with &

This hasn't worked in this case. I changed to a Joomla default template and it fixed the problem.

Any suggestions?
