Hi Ciaran,

I tried to customize the Layla-Template for Joomla 4 by changing the nexus.css.

To do so in the past I was able to make small changes using the Joomla 3 Templates.

But now I have the feeling that nothing happens in the frontend changing the nexus.css

Maybe are there other css-files I had to change????

Thanks in advance
Jürgen

Hi Jürgen

If you are loading minified CSS, then you would need to edit the nexus.min.css. In general thou I would suggest adding your custom CSS to the Custom CSS field of your template settings or creating a custom.css as detailed in the same panel. This will ensure your CSS gets added last in the cascade.

Hi Ciaran,

of course I used the custom.css to make the changes.

Today I made an side update from Joomla3 to Joomla 4.06 using the J51 Ashley Template for Joomla 3 and it was a great surprise it works fine!!!!!

Hi Jürgen

Some of our earlier more basic templates may install without issue however I suspect some Joomla views will likely render incorrectly as our Ashley template is based on Bootstrap 2 and Joomla 4 is based on Bootstrap 4. Admittedly I havent tested it but if it works, that is great :) Have you tried some of the more advanced Joomla views (eg. frontend editing?).

Regarding your CSS, would you have a URL to an example of thes issue?

Hi Ciaran,

the css issue is solved. I used the custom.css at your recommandation.

Will there be Joomla 4 versions for the Ashley and the Renovate Templates, which are my favourites??

For the look of the Ashley template I adapted the new Layla 4 Template changing the custom.css.

Of course I only want to use Joomla 4 compatible templates in the future. The Ashley 3 template seems to have been a coincidence as well, as I tested another site where it didn't work.

Hi Jürgen

Yes we intend to create Joomla 4 versions of both the Ashley and Renovate template although I would be unable to give you an exact date on when the updates will be available.

Hi Ciaran,

this is no problem, because some needed components are also not available in Joomla 4 compatible versions.

The updates from sites to Joomla 4 is always a big surprise what happens.
