Hi,
In Hannah for example, if we set ‘no’ in 100% width of a module, a background color setting applies only to the size of the website, say 1080px. In Magnolia, even with ‘no’ in 100% width the setting expands 100%. How can I correct that by code without using the “Module Style Overrides”?
Thanks

Hello

I am not quite sure if I understand you correctly. Would you have a URL to an example of this issue?

Hi Ciarán
I'm working in localhost but I think that you can see the issue in any J51 template you may have installed.
Since I'm working now in a Magnolia website, I made the test installing and checking in that website all the 20 templates since Creative up to now.

  • Assigned a template as default, successively.
  • In Styling I set a strong color (to be noticeable) to Top1 Background color.
Since Trinity, in Module widths, confirmed that the Top1 is "NO" in 100%
(the templates before Trinity do not have this setting but I presume that the default was "NO";)
Called a menu item assigned to top1, for example Menu Features, Color Choosers.

Except the following templates, all the others extend the color 100% regardless if we choose yes or no.
The ones that obey to yes or no:

  • Creative
  • Artisan
    Fedora
    Ashley
    Caitilin
    Willow
    Hannah

My best regards

Well, let me be precise: in that well behaved group only Hannah obeys to the yes or no command. The others in fact do not extend 100% but they do not have such command.

Thank you for detailing your issue... I think I understand :).

Styling varies from template to template. Some template have a traditional 'boxed' layout (eg. Hannah) other templates like our Magnolia template have an open layout (no box). For templates with an open layout the background color generally extends the full width of the browser regardless of the Module Width settings. This setting is strictly for the modules. When enabled the module container will extend the full width of the browser. In templates with a boxed layout this also means the background color effectively removing the 'box' to allow the 100% width module container. Make sense?

Hi Ciarán
Thank you for your kind explanation. I was not aware of that difference in templates being boxed or not. In my future projects I'll have to test the potential template on that regard before choosing it.
Best regards
