I've had a login form for years and it always worked, but now, it just returns to the same page. It doesn't go to the directed page. I'm thinking that it isn't accepting the login as legit. At the bottom of this page: http://midcolumbiawoodturners.org/officers/

It's been a long time since I've worked on any site, so the dead brain cells are catching up with me. I looked at the "login form" and it's directing to a page as before. I also checked my login info, it is correct. I made a new user and made them a registered user, which is the criteria. Still nothing. Please kick start me in the right direction.

Hello

I dont believe this would be a template related issue. Are you having the same issue if you use one of the default Joomla templates (Protostar)? Have you check your user component options (Users -> Manage -> Options)?

Thanks, Ciaran. I restored the last backup and that didn't correct it, so back to square one. Lucky this isn't a feature used much, so I have time to figure it out.

Well I finally got back to this problem and the solution was to disable SEF in Global. Since you had me enable that years ago, Joomla must have changed something in a recent update. What negative effect am I going to have?

I went back to Global and enabled SEF but said no on Use URL Rewriting and it still seems to work.

Update: A guy on J! forum told me to go to content and change Set in the Content options the URL-routing to "modern" and something about URL ID, right under that option. I also set SEF to yest but have to URL rewrite has to be NO to work. He had me run Forum Post Assistant and it came up with a J51 News error. He suggested bring it to your attention.

Hello

URL Rewriting is usually only a requirement on Apache servers. This setting also requires the introduction of a .htaccess file. This effects how URLs are generated. If you are happy with the URLs generated by Joomla then you have nothing to worry about.

Thank you for bring the J51 News error to our notice.

I have a .htaccess file, looking at it, looks like it was created by Joomla. Thanks for your feedback.
