Hi,

On my dev site with Joomla 2.5, Firefox and Presence - http://www.netlearningteam.com/

I read posts & replies about lang flags for Oxygen, Metropolis, Chimera and Horizon, but am not sure which solution will work for my Presence case (see link above) as the issue is slightly different apparently.

Problems are:
- the 2 wanted flags only appear when they are in some of the existing defined positions, and in my case I would like these 2 flags to be horizontally placed just close to the left of the default Search box (which is located top-right on the screen)
- the flags always appear vertically to each other instead of horizontally, even when horizontal is specified in the language switcher module params
- there is always a "big dot" to the left of each flag, which I don't want of course

So what changes do you suggest to have these two flags (1) horizontally (2) just to the left of Search box (3) without big dots ?

Many thanks again in advance,
-michel

Hi Michel

Firstly I would suggest creating a module position for your flags in the header area of your template. To do so my I suggest the following post http://www.joomla51.com/forum/support/commercial-templates/chimera-language-switcher#2211

Once you have the position created and have placed your language flags module within it I would ask you to get back to me and I will supply you with the need styling so the flags appear as you wish.

Thank you

Ciarán

Dear Ciarán,

Just done it as you suggested, and the flags come horizontally, without :evil: dots, and at about the wanted vertical position from the top of the page. Great !
Fyi- at this time I have applied the same indicated changes to the 3 Presence templates (generic, EN and FR) -- because I used your suggestion to have different templates for each language and I also kept a generic one, that last one not being actually used by the engine as I see it.

Now if you can let me know the best styling params so that the flags do not overlay the Search area, it would be brilliant.
Depending on the selected language, the flags come at slightly different horizontal places-- looks like their position works not as absolute but the "flags area" begins at about the beginning of the search area or so. Of course depending on the language (selecting each of the 2 flags) and parameterising each template (there are 3 of them where I did the changes), the Search area starts at a different horizontal place. To me the flags would be ok either at fixed absolute position to window or at fixed position from the beginning of Search area (ie for the latter at relative position)

Thanks !

Hi Michel

To better position your flags try adding the following to the end of the CSS in the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters..

div.mod-languages ul.lang-inline li {
float: right;
}
#newmodule {
right: 230px;
top: 13px;
}
