hi Ciaran, I've installed J51_LayerSlideshow in Novah template, as part of package downloaded a few days ago, but I am not getting any animation. I've checked your tutorials for installing and troubleshooting this module, and can't see the what the problem is. I've put it in showcase-1a position. I have just two images at the moment, and can only see one of them in full, though because they are slightly different heights I can see that image 1 is overlaid on image 2, instead of slideshow effect. The fwd and back arrows have no effect.

I guess I'm doing something silly - what do I need to check? I haven't made any major changes to timings, etc, and there are no other plug-ins, as I've just started building the site, indeed I only have this module, the Main Menu, a couple of articles and a logo so far. I'm working in localhost so can't give you a URL, though I could screenshot the setting pages?

additional info - by 'no animation' I mean the images are not changing, ie it's not a slideshow (I wasn't referring to text animation effects). Using latest Chrome, Safari and Firefox, same effect on all 3

Hi Mike

May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

Hello Ciaran,

I line up here.
I have two local installations of J51_Novah. The first for testing, the second with demo content. The J51_LayerSlideshow works on the second local installation with demo content. In the first installation with own content for testing, the J51_LayerSlideshow does not work. I have compared both settings they are identical.

I seem to have the same problem as the topic starter.
Do you have an idea why that could be?

Kind regards
Olaf

Hello Ciaran,

it really is bewitched.
I write my question in the forum and find a few later the solution. I have now installed the mod_j51layerslideshow_j4.zip from the Riley template and everything is working now. Is it possible that there is an error in the mod_j51layerslideshow_j4.zip that comes with the template J51_Novah?

Kind regards
Olaf

Hello Ciaran,

it doesn't work 100 percent.
No matter what animation I choose, the animation doesn't change.

Kind regards
Olaf

Hi Mike, thank you for the access.

It seems that some of the scripts of the slideshow module is not been installed to your Joomlas media folder, specifically.. /media/mod_j51layerslideshow/js/tiny-slider.min.js. A possible cause to this may be some permission issues on your server. We have tested the module installation repeatedly and on number of local environments and have been unable to replicate any issues.

If you copy the js and css folders manually from your module archive to the /media/mod_j51layerslideshow/ folder, is the issue resolved?

HI Olaf

Can you confirm that you have added text to each of your images? THe animation effects are only applied to the overlaying text on each slide, not to the slide itself.

hi Ciaran, that did fix the problem, but it might indicate a problem in the extension package. The js folder in the 'media' folder of the 'mod_j51layerslideshow_j4' zip file contains only 'owl,carousel.min.js' and that is what was copied to the media/mod_j51layerslideshow/ folder on the server. I found 'script.jss' and 'tiny-slider.min.js' in the root directory of the mod_j51layerslideshow_j4' zip file, and copied them across manually. Similarly for the missing files in the css folder of the 'media' folder.

Could there be a problem with the way the extension installs? Maybe have all those files in the media/js and media/css folders, even though the installation apparently works without them on some servers?

Happy to send you some screenshots if that would help

best, Mike

Hi Mike

We finally got around to sorting this issue out which we admit had us stumped for a day or 2 :) Thank you for your patience and for pointing us in the right direction.

The latest download of this template (and its bundled module should resolve the issue).
