Hi there,

I've just installed the Image Hover extension to my website, added a few images of differing heights, then set the Layout type to "masonry". Unfortunately both "masonry" and "static" layouts act the same way, with the images simply resizing as if in bootstrap rows/spans. I.e. the masonry layout is not working as in the demo.

Could you please take a look and let me know what the issue is?

Many thanks
Marc

Hi Marc

The latest update for this module is now available (Joomla51 -> Profile -> Extension Downloads).

Hello Ciaran,

I'm looking to make use of the image hover extension in my next project - just wondering if the next version (with the above fix) will be made available soon, so I can make use of it. I'd rather use an officially released version, than having to include temporary fixes on my side.

Many thanks for your help,
Marc

Thank you Marc. Many happy returns for the new year.

Once we have thoroughly tested the module update, we will update the update server XML at which point you should receive a notification via your Joomla installation.

Hi Ciaran,

One last quick question - when you made a release of the Image Hover Gallery a few weeks ago, my Joomla system didn't automatically notify me that an update was available. Should I have seen a notification?

Many thanks,
Marc

Hi Ciaran,

Thanks for resolving the issue. For the time being I will add the module using a fixed position. However your fix will definitely be welcome in the future, as I often insert modules using tags.

Wishing the Joomla51 team a fantastic new year,
Marc

Thank you Marc for setting up the test environment. On our own local install we had indeed tested the news module instead of the imagehover module (I must be still in festive mode and obviously not firing on all cylinders :) ).

On further inspection we have found that the issue is indeed related to the module. I have created an override for the module in your test Joomla install fixing the issue. As soon as I am back in the office in the new year I will update the module with a fix. in the meantime. if you wish to fix the module in your main site, you can either copy the override from your test install (../templates/protostar/html) or allow us access to create the override for you.

Thank you for patience and detailed updates with this issue! :)

Hello,

I just noticed your previous reply - it stated:
Unfortunately, we have tried loadmodule with the News module and masonry styling

... this thread looking at the Image Hover Gallery Module (not the News module) - did you test the correct extension or was that a typo?

Thanks
Marc

Hi there,

OK, this is the most basic test. I carried out the following:

  • 3.9.14 Joomla installed on clean system (note - different URL)
  • removed unwanted modules: bread crumbs / log in
  • installed latest Image Hover Gallery extension
  • configured gallery module from defaults (layout type -> masonry and added images via module interface (just selected images, no other defaults changed) )
  • inserted Image Hover into home article page, using 'loadmoduleid 90'

Given this issue can be replicated with only a clean installation of a) Joomla and b) Image Hover extension, I assume the loadmoduleid should work and this is problem with the extension?

As illustrated in the above thread - if the loadmoduleid is removed and instead the module is assigned a position (e.g. position-2), the masonry effect will then work.

I've attached my test installation URL and an image showing the same issue as before i.e. masonry effect is not working. For this test installation, I will send the log on details to your "info" email shortly ....

Many thanks,
Marc

Hi Ciaran,

To investigate this issue for my above post, I installed a clean Joomla on a test server, added the Joomlashack template and then your Image Hover extension. With only these items installed on a fresh Joomla, I could replicate the issue.

If I get time later this evening, I will create another new installation and try again - I'll get back to you with my results.

Thanks

Hi Marc

Unfortunately, we have tried loadmodule with the News module and masonry styling however have been unable to replicate any issues. Have you been able to replicate this issue outside of lavenderandblackberry.com?

Hi Ciaran,

Please see my previous comment - the issue is due to loading the extension via

{loadmoduleid XX}

Is this a bug in the Image Hover Gallery module?

Thanks

Hi Marc

Checking your site I notice jQuery Easy is no longer loaded however your ImageHover masonry gallery appears to be loading without issue. Have you since found an alternative solution to this issue?

Note that JS conflicts can also come from 3rd party plugins.

OK - after a lot of investigation this morning, I believe I understand what the problem is. I have the following set up:

- article
- Image Hover Gallery module with no position
- I've imported Image Hover Gallery into the article via

{loadmoduleid XX}

Under this scenario, the masonry effect of the Image Hover Extension does not work.

On the other hand, if the Image Hover Gallery module is given a position (and not inserted by code) it does work.

Is this a bug in the Image Hover Gallery module?

Many thanks

I've just gone through every extension I've installed and disabled it from the extension->manage. I've then purged the cache and refreshed the site - but the image gallery is still not working.

I only have two extensions from you news / Image hover, and the other extensions come from Joomlashack (as does the template). I try to limit the number of extensions I use.

Any other suggestions?

Many thanks

Hi Ciaran,

How do I track down all the jQuery instances on my site, and what's loading them?

Thanks

Hi Marc

jQuery Easy ensures only one copy of jQuery is loaded and that all jQuery is loaded in no-conflict mode. A possible cause of your issue may be an extension loading a copy of jQuery (which is already loaded by Joomla). This can cause JS conflicts with other extensions on your site.

Hi Ciaran - I believed jQuery Easy was a diagnostic tool, to help you investigate the issue with the Image Hover extension - and once the issue had been found, jQuery Easy could be removed. I assumed the fix was going to be with the Image Hover extension.

Do you know what the issue is? A problem with the extension, my template?

Many thanks,
Marc

Hi Marc

Are you looking to resolve the issue without using jQuery Easy?

Hi Marc - thanks for investigating.

The masonry effect does work ... but only with the jQuery Easy is enabled - it corrects the issue. Please see attached, the only difference between the images is jQuery Easy being enabled or disabled. As you can see, when disabled the masonry effect is not working.

I'll leave jQuery Easy disabled for the time being, so you can clearly see the issue.

Many thanks,
Marc

Hi Marc

Admitedly we have been unable to replicate your issue. I will try from a different IP and machine in the morning. In the meantime, I have disabled reporting on your jQuery Easy plugin.
