How to update Templates to newer Version without loosing customasations

I need to Update the LetterPress Template zu latest version (to get the Backend Jooml 3.9 compatible) and to fix some jQuery conflicts.

i can't find a tutorial or documentation for this.

I already tried it, but i gett some jQuery conflicts. I will check out in the next few days an reply back to get gurther help.
