Hello

1. The template you are using for Virtuemart does not appear to be responsive and is not designed for mobile devices.

2. Once again this appears to be a Virtuemart template issue. Adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters will change the color of the 'add to cart' text'...

.addtocart-button {
color: #000 !important;
}

3. This would be a Virtuemart template query.

Hello

Yes our Habitat template can be used with Virtuemart however it does not include any Virtuemart styling meaning Virtuemart will use either its own default styling or alternatively you can install a 3rd party Virtuemart template. The default template for Virtuemart, to my knowledge is not responsive,.

Templates specific to Virtuemart will only effect the Virtuemart components of your site (eg. browse products, checkout etc.). It will not effect the overall look of your sites which is set by your Joomla51 Habitat template.

Some Joomla templates do include Virtuemart styling/templates (eg. http://www.templatemonster.com/virtuemart-templates.php). I am sorry to say however this is not the case with any templates from Joomla51.

i've done some overrides putting in /html folder of the template some pieces of other templates.

(es. productdetails from a responsive vm template, category from another ecc..)

Ciaran,

First let me say I am so glad that I did my research first, and searched the forum before I just downloaded Virtuemart. I too want to use Virtuemart but with Cashmere.. but, I'm stuck between trying Virtuemart or Prestashop. You mention to reitano that one can install a 3rd party Virtuemart template. Once I've located one, how do I install it with my current template? Also, when I suppose I will include it as an external menu item to open in a separate window? Please advise.

Thanks

Hi April

This may vary depending on the template you decide on however any template you buy should include documentation on installing to your current Joomla installation..

Virtuemart templates only include styling for Viretuemart elements and should not effect any of your other site content.

Ciaran,

thanks for the feedback.. I did find a free Virtuemart template.. after researching more.. I think I might try prestashop.. Would this be the same? My host who offers the software says Joomla does not offer the extension, however I did find it via Joomla extension as a module. So of course I'm more confused as to which one to use. I just need fast and easy.. adding these extensions have prolonged my development. If you can advise additional I'd appreciate it.. Thanks

Hello

Prestashop is a fully functional CMS geared towards e-commerce. I suspect the module you are talking of simply displays a list of products from an existing Prestashop installation, presuming I am correct you will essentially be creating two site, one for the shop and one with Joomla which will have a module linking to the shop?

Ciaran,

YES! YES! Thank you I just wanted to make sure I had a thorough understanding as to how this would work. My host company offers the entire software free so I will install into a subdirectory or sub-folder and create an external link from my Cashmere menu? Does the latter sound correct? SMILE.. Thanks again

As an addition to this thread, I have built two responsive sites using VirtueMart, one using Substance and a second using Presence, with a third one in development. The main change from standard VM is to override some of the css with screen size specific styles, but it works very well.
