I'm new to Joomla, so customizing an interface is difficult for me. How do I assign an article to a specific position?

More specifically, for the Evolution theme, I want to assign 3 articles (individually) to the "Top-2" module position.

Hi enoctis

If you simply want to place some text in to a module position the most popular solution is to use Joomlas 'Custom HTML' module. To create navigate to Extensions -> Module Manager -> New -> Custom HTML.

It seems like that's what I'm going to have to do. I wanted to include an article for the "Read More" button, but I suppose I'll have to do it another way. Thanks for the input.

It's not going to work. On your demo server for the Evolution theme, you have 3 boxes underneath the Showcase position: Beautiful Design, Packed With Features, Helpful Support. I am trying to achieve a similar look.

What type of module did you use to get those boxes into those positions? The Custom HTML module cannot be assigned to any of the "Top-2" positions.

UPDATE:
For some reason it wouldn't allow me to assign to that module position, but now I can. Who knows... some sort of fluke.

Hi Sean

Another option is to place your articles in to a single unique category and then use the Articles - Newsflash module (Extensions -> Module Manager -> New -> Articles - Newsflash).

Regarding the 'Read More..' button it is worth noting that you can create your own button by adding the following code to the end of your text (best set your editor to CodeMirror)..

<p class="readmore">
<a href="http://www.joomla51.com"> Read more...</a>
</p>

.. editing 'http://www.joomla51.com' to your own taste.

Coincidentally, I discovered the readmore p tag before I read your post, but thanks! You're actually the second person that's suggested the Newsflash module... maybe I should check it out ;)
