Ciaran,

Before I go any further developing my site.. I better make sure I don't get caught up. I am developing from Cashmere's Demo and I don't think I installed this correctly.. Nevertheless I've been developing.. so right now my website address is included in the url. /templates/cashmeredemo/

here is an example http://www.april.com/templates/cashmeredemo/

How and when will I move this? Change this to just http://www.april.com? I have additional joomla extensions installed and will do more. Hoping there will not be any complications .. Thanks

april

Hi April

Possibly safest method is to create what is called a 301 redirect. This allows you to redirect your domain to any alternative folder. Check out the following URL for details... https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/93633?hl=en

Another option would be to simply move your Joomla files to the directory of your choice. Joomla by default is not path dependent.

OK, so would you recommend I do this now before I continue to add Joomla extensions.. can I complete development b4 I perform one of these tasks? If I use the redirect option, will this interfere with SEO? Thanks

Hi April

This should not mak any difference. If it was me I would probably create the redirect first just in case there is any issues. 301 redirects are recommended by Google so it should not effect your SEO in any way.
