Hi Ciarán,
I am having an issue with the menu in the Calibra template but it only seems to affect Firefox. In Firefox, the first menu you hover over, stays in the dropped down position and will not retract. Not sure when this issue started but I've left it for a while, hoping it would resolve with a new update to Firefox, but so far no joy.
No issues in Chrome. Haven't tried Internet Explorer.

I've also updated through several versions of Joomla, and no change. Currently running Joomla 3.9.0
The problem does not occur on the demo version on this site.
I've tried removing custom CSS code that I've installed with your assistance in the past - again no change. I've attached a txt file with all the Custom CSS code used on the site.

I also have the Artisan template installed but it is not in use.
Only other extensions I've installed are Akeeba backup and JCE.

I'm running Firefox version 63.0.1

Site is <removed>

Thanks for any help you can provide.
JR

Sorry, I have blocked most countries via .htaccess. Temporarily allowed now. You should be able to see it.

Hi JR,

I have looked at your site too (from Indonesia, not blocked apparantly) and the menus on your website works fine overhere. Tested in Firefox 63.0.1, 64 bits.
They do a drop down on focus and retracts when out of focus, so works as expected. I could not reproduce the problem you described, although I tried many times. Also in Edge and Chrome no problems with the menus. Maybe you can try on another PC? Just my 2 cents.

Regards, Burt

Well, that's interesting! I have tried this on several computers (Windows 10 and 7) and they all have the same issue.

Then (Light bulb goes on)....

After Burt says its working for him I decided to remove the Evernote Web Clipper (ENWC) add-on for Firefox, (because it's the only add-on installed on this computer) and ...

Ta-Da!!!!

It's working again!
I re-install the ENWC and it's not working again!

But it's very ODD that the menu on the demo template on this site works WITH ENWC, but not on my site.
There must be something different about my site from the Demo site.

I'm wondering if there has been an update to the Calibra template since I got it which was shortly after it came out?

At least I now know that it is only broken for browsers with ENWC and not for everyone!

If there's been an update to the Calibra Template, any chance I could get a download link for the updated version? Then i could test if that fixes it! :-)

If not, well, I've been thinking of upgrading my site - it's overdue for a facelift anyway! (Nothing against the Calibra template - I still love it!)

Burt, Thanks for your input!!!!

Hi JR,

Good to hear you could determine the cause of this issue. I don't know about that add-on in FF, but good find!

I think you should have a look at your hosting server and/or configuration as well.
If I switch rapidly between menu items I see some kind of Joomla warning inbetween screens (a red box with some text, but to fast to read or make a screen capture of it). It looks like a 404 message, but then the page still shows up.

Hey Burt!
Evernote is a pretty solid app! It's been around for many years, long before OneNote and other imitations. But people either love it or hate it ....
The Web clipper is (I think) more recent but it's still been around for years too.

It's just odd that the error doesn't occur on the demo, but it does on my site, which indicates to me that maybe there's been an update in the demo. Or there's a server setting that is different. It could take hours to try all the permutations. I'm not going to worry about it for now, but if I can get an update to the template, I'd certainly try that. Just seems like the easiest route to try first.

I'm probably going to lock down my site again fairly soon as my logs always show a lot of attempts from Russia and other hacker havens.
Thanks again for your help!

Hi JR

Just to mention that I have made the latest download of the Calibra template available for you via your Joomla51 Profile -> Downloads.

Hi,
This issue is SOLVED!
The update install was painless and went without a hitch and I haven't found any problems on the site. The menu issue is resolved as well!

Summary: this problem was traced to the Evernote Web Clipper plug-in. When this plug-in is installed in Firefox and using the original Calibra template from Joomla51, the Hornav menu sticks when you open the first menu. Unloading the Evernote plug-in removes the problem and re-installing the plug-in recreates the problem. The updated Calibra template (I believe it's a 2017 update) solves the problem.

Here's a keyword list for the search engines that may help someone else find this post in the future.
Keywords: Joomla, Joomla51 template, Calibra Template, Commercial template, menu sticking, menu not working, menu won't retract, menu not retracting, menu stuck, Evernote web clipper.

Thanks Ciaran for providing the updated Template!
Thanks Burt for adding your input that also helped track down the problem!

When anyone asks about where to get templates, I always tell them to come to Joomla51!
Great templates and I've always received top notch service!!!

Cheers!!

Soooo.... as an FYI, I was browsing the J51 template demo page looking at templates for another site, and discovered that the following demo templates also exhibit the freezing menu problem I was having on the Calibra template....

Renovate, Polaris, Cashmere, Brooklyn and Grafik.

I looked at the demo templates that are about 10 newer and 10 older than Calibra and those are the ones I found.
I have these templates because I downloaded them when I had a Club membership in the past, but I am not currently using them so nothing urgent here, but thought you should know...

Sorry! I know this may create more work for you Ciaran. :(

Cheers!

Thank you JR for bringing this to our attention. We will go through each of these templates and double check that the issue has been resolved. Originally these templates largely used javascript animations. In most case's we have since replaced this JS with the CSS equivalent.
