Searched the forum and the issue seems to have occurred with other templates, but the solutions don't seem to apply to Bianca or Nina for J4.
I get the following errors trying to install Bianca or Nina:

  • JInstaller: :Install: Can't find XML setup file.
  • Path does not have a valid package.
    Unable to detect manifest file.

This is being installed on a brand new Install of Joomla 4.3.4

As it occurs with 2 of your templates, Bianca and Nina, I suspect I have a setting wrong somewhere.

Sorry if this is a problem with some setting in Joomla.
Let me know if you will need access to the site.

Solved...
Okay, I was originally using the "Install from folder" option rather than increasing the file upload size limit. I uploaded the template to a temp folder on the server and attempted to install it using the "Extension manager - Install from folder", and that is where it failed.

I increased the file upload limit as you suggested, to 5M and tried the install direct from "Extension - Upload Package", and it worked!!
Go figure! Is this a bug in Joomla 4 that it won't "install from a folder" as it is supposed to do?

I would not have expected it to fail just because I used the "install from folder" option.
I don't know enough about Joomla to make the call about this behavior as a bug, but it seems to me that the install from folder should have worked.
Perhaps that is an issue that should be escalated to the Joomla development team???

Anyway, thanks Ciaran for the help and sorry for taking your time on this.
Awesome support and help from you is appreciated again!!!

Many thanks!!!!

Hi J

Admittedly the 'install from folder' option is a Joomla feature I know little about. From how you have described it, it does seem like there is an issue. If you are inclined, you could mention on the the Joomla repo.. https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/issues

Did you unzip the download package first. The package contains much more than the template alone. Unzip and look for something like "Installation Files", unzip further and find the template's ZIP.

Thanks for your response. I've been a Joomla51 fan for years and have used many of the templates, so yes, I unzipped the download package which has the template zip and all of the module zip files. The only xml/json files in the root folder of the template zip are: "templatedetails.xml", "joomla.asset.json", and "composer.json". I don't claim to be an expert, but I have installed many joomla51 template on Joomla 3.x without any issues.
Thanks for any advice you can provide would help.

Thank you J

We are getting the following notice when we attempt to install your templates...

Warning
The selected file cannot be uploaded as it is bigger than the maximum upload size.

It seems that you will need to increase the upload limit on your server which is likely set in your php.ini (https://www.tutorialspoint.com/how-to-increase-file-upload-size-in-php). If you dont have access to your php.ini, may I suggest contacting your site host.
