I would like to convert my live site, http://www.dentholidays.co.uk, from the Beez_20 template to Oxygen. On a localhost version, I installed Oxygen and made it the default template for the site. No other template being used for the front end. The newly converted site look like the screen shot in "Oxygen Problem.jpg". The format has been lost with the page looking flat and uninteresting. As a test, I designed an Oxygen template page from scratch. "Desired Page.jpg" shows more or less the required result.

My question is: can I convert from Beez_20 to Oxygen without too much hassle and extra work? I do not want to start from scratch again as there are extensions installed in the site and I do not want to have to install these again. The time required cannot be justified.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Richard Beilby.

Hi Richard

In your first example the style sheets for your template does not appears to be loading. If you wish you can send temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further.

When converting to a new template the only issue you should have is assigning your modules to the new module positions. Module position names usually vary from template to template, meaning module positions will have to be changed to match that of the new template (Extensions -> Module Manager -> [YourModule] -> Position).

Thank you for your reply, Ciaran. The installation is in test and on a localhost, so you will not be able to access as normal. Could you give me instructions on what to do or look for? Alternatively, I could set up TeamViewer to enable you to gain access to my notebook and the installation.

I have changed some of the module positions for Oxygen, but, this did not have the desired effect. Would a re-installation help?

I have only installed Oxygen, not the slide show or demonstration data.

I can't really say for sure without access to your Joomla installation. The issue is unique as I don't believe to have come across it before. All I could suggest is to try a new installation. Idealy if you could upload to a host we'll then be able to look in to it for you.

Ciaran,

I have mostly solved the problem. I use JCH optimiser to optimise the images and code. This caches the screen data, so was not picking up the new screen data. Thank to Firebug for assisting in tracking this down.

I do have one remaining problem: only the e-mail icon appears. Both are set to show in Category Manager: Articles options. Any idea why it is not showing?

Hi Richard

Try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters (Extensions -> Template Manager -> J51_Oxygen -> Custom CSS)..
.actions li {margin-top: -10px;}
