Hi
I have been trying to set the Arkadia template up for two language and have not been able to get the menus to work as expected. I could not get rid of the unpublished default main menu to make way for the English / Welsh menus.

However I have just switched over to the Beez template and it works perfectly with only a few small adjustments of the menu module positions. So I think it might be the template wiring.

What do you think?

Sorry here is a link to the website on Beez - I have not sturctured anything but just to show the basic home menu is working with the multi-lingual language switcher which I could not get working with the same format on Arkadia.

Pre-working on multilingual facility all the menus on Arkadia worked fine.....

UPDATE
I need to move this on so have been looking at different options today. I feel there is definitely something amiss with the template. I have moved away from using the language switcher to simply showing different languages / menus on different pages with flag links to the home page of each language. Works fine on Beez 3 but not on the Arkadia.

What happens with Arkadia is that the menu assignments do not seem to be working and the default menu stays all the time. Please can you help me resolve this as I need to have sorted this website by the end of the week. Many thanks.

Thank you Chris

I have converted your top menu to a module position via your templates parameters and it now appears to working correctly, loading your 'Main Menu' for English and 'Welsh Menu' for Welsh.

Hi Ciaran
Sorry but the dropdown menus on the main menu are not working with this new format - I am kicking myself for not checking it yesterday. The text menus come off 1st level menu items which are text separators so changed these to article links and still did not work.

Please could you take a look - and also I need to be able to edit the menu items in the future - for example, I have to add to the welsh menu (more first level and sub-menus) and don't want to have to come back to you each time.

I am wondering if the best way forward might be to re-install the template? What do you think? I have a feeling that it got confused after I tried to add the language switcher which it did not like. Please advise as if I re-install the template, it will override the changes you have made.

Thank you Ciaran.....

Hi Chris

In each of your menu modules parameters I have set 'Show Sub-menu Items' to yes which has resolved this issue. My apologies as I should have checked this myself the first time around. Your menus are now set up correctly so future additions should work without issue.

Oh dear, Ciaran - the wiring on the menus is still not right. I have now expanded the Welsh menu and have problems...

'Cartref' goes to 'Home' on the English menu
'Ein Ysgol' goes to 'Home' on English menu
New drop down menu on 'Ein Ysgol' does not appear

And to cap it all the 'Featured' function does not work - in an ideal world I want the welsh featured articles to go to 'Cartref' and the english featured articles to go to 'Home' as well as their latest news pages - reason why I installed the Language Switcher in the first place which was the start of my troubles. But 'Featured' does not work at all now !

What do you suggest Ciaran - remove the template and start again? I have to have something stable but also have to resolve it one way or another asap....can you see a solution?

Hi Ciaran
Found a work around for the 'featured' element not working and have just put a module link to the latest post as I think it is too big and ask to have 2 home pages!

But, please can you help me sort the menus - the drop down on 'Ein Ysgol' does occassionally appear but not stable and the first two menu items still default to English 'Home'

Wait to hear - thanks Ciaran

Okay Ciaran - this is my final post I hope on this issue because it is driving me nuts and probably you too!! I have abandonned the Responsive element (only like 1 menu for responsive), have then split my menu between hornav and sidecol-a and all works.
Thanks for everything....
