Hello

We are currently working on upgrading our templates to be available for Joomla 4. We hope to start having them available upon the Joomla 4 release.

Ciaran, could we please have an update on this? Your website says that the recent templates are "Compatibility: Joomla 3.6+" which suggests that they are compatible with Joomla 4. At least change that to make it clear that it's 3.6 - 3.10 only and please communicate with your customers. I'm going to have to start buying templates from another company of this is the level of support offered.

Hello,
as of many customers here I am interested in a timeplan of and which templates are made J4 compatible.
But I think we should not be in a hurry. Today came the first bugfix 4.0.1 and it was so buggy, it is not available any more and they will bring out 4.0.2 within the next 24 hrs.
So I think, in general it makes more sense to wait till the end of year to make an update to J4 version.
I asked a some of component and modul companies and many of them are still working on the J4 version of their products.
But I agree with the others: a timeline / timeframe until when and, important too, which templates will be updated to J4 would be nice.

I agree completely with Oliver that we should not be in a hurry.

The development of Joomla 4 took almost more than 3 years (!) with undoubtedly a lot of last minute adjustments.
So we can't expect that all templates, extensions, etc. will be fully compatible with Joomla 4 and perform stably in the short term.
I think it's best to wait until Joomla 4 itself is stable enough.

I also follow the forums of some major extension developers and they are experiencing the same problems.
So we should give Joomla51.com enough time to make all there templates compatible. I think they will be very busy now.

If Ciaran can provide an approximate timetable along with a list of the templates which will be modified, than this would be very helpful.

A quick update....

Yes we are currently busy getting Joomla51 templates rolled out for Joomla 4 with newest templates been worked on first. We intend to make all templates currently in our catalogue available for Joomla 4. The first template update is taking the longest for us, but once complete, other templates should quickly follow. I would hope that these release should start happening in the next 10 days.

I realise that this is later than was originally mentioned in this post however I have been heavily involved with development of the Joomla 4 administration template (https://twitter.com/_ciar4n/status/1381243424016322566) which was a priority for me over the last few months with the intent that Joomla 4 get released as soon as possible. Thankfully that work is now complete and due to great efforts by a relatively small number of people, Joomla 4 is now released.

As correctly mentioned, Joomla 4 is not without its bugs and I would recommend holding off for a little while before updating any production websites.

Hope this clears up things a bit :)

There is a new update 3-10-1 tonight and I'm getting a message that my J51 templates might not be compatable. Can you address if this is really an issue?

Thanks

In preparing to update to Joomla 3.10.1 I am getting notices that "Extension does not offer a compatible version for the selected target version of Joomla. This could mean the extension does not use the Joomla update system or the developer has not provided compatibility information for this Joomla version yet."

And here is the list:
J51_Icons
J51_Thumbs Gallery Module
J51_InlineIcons
J51_LayerSlideshow
J51_Carousel
J51_ImageHover
and the template: J51_juliet

Hello

Is this still an issue for you? This issue has been reported however appears to have resolved itself with a recent update to Joomlas update servers.

Hello Ciaran, thanks for the reply. Silly me, I didn't note the website. I am doing mass updating of many Joomla sites and am not sure which had this issue. Consider it closed, if I come across it again, I will re-post

Ciaran,

I am definitely waiting to move to 4.0 but get the same messages as above with 3.10.1 - so are your templates compatible with 3.10.1?

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary,
we did some dozens websites with Joomla51 templates and they are all upgraded to Joomla 3.10.1 without any problems.
The Pre-Update check in the Joomla Update area is only a compatibility check for J4.x version.
If you wanna update in the J3 series, got to the tab "Live Update" and there you can do normal update to 3.10.1.
Hope this helps.
