Hey, I've been waiting for many months for the J4 version of Grafik to become available, as I used the J3 version for many years on one of my most important sites, and was looking forward to returning to the lovely two-tone blue of Grafik, as displayed in the template demo. (I'd tolerated Cassiopeia in the meantime, after J4 update of my site, waiting for J4 Grafik to become available.)

However - upon uploading Grafik J4, and making it the default template on my site, I was stunned and disappointed to see not the lovely blue two-tone header and blue buttons etc. displayed in the template demo (and that I had in the J3 version previously on my site.) Instead, the header, buttons, fonts, etc. are all set to dark brown and black. A depressing and disappointing experience, after waiting so many months, and paying for another year of (not cheap) J51 club membership.

I checked the style documents provided with the template - but none of them contain the blue option either.

Also - the template image now displays as "Cashmere," not Grafik. Cashmere is a more brown-based template - is that where the brown came from in Grafik J4?

How can I get my site to look like the demo, and like my old J3 Grafik site, with blue (not brown) as the dominant color scheme?

For now, I sadly put my site back to Cassiopeia, which is at least somewhat closer to the needed color scheme. Brown is completely alien to what I need on the site, and also has no resemblance at all to the Grafik demo. Really want that two-tone blue back, after many months of unavailability. Please advise.

Hello

May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

Thank you

Would you like me to change your template style colors back to the original colors as displayed on the template demo? Such colors are set in the template style settings and are stored in your Joomla database. I am not sure how yours got changed but I am happy to change them back to the default colors?

Yes - please change the colors back to the default blue. I'm not sure why they're changed either - it's just how the template displayed when I uploaded the new 4.0 version of Grafik.

I emailed you the admin info requested, but never heard anything back - so I'm not sure of the status on this request.

-----------------

PS - I did not get an email notice of this update 6 days ago - I just looked on the forum here after a few days. Should I be get an email notice of message updates, or not?

I would appreciate notification if possible when this color adjustment is complete. Thank you.

I see the the colors are now set back to the default blue - thank you - Looks so much better!

I've been reverting the modules etc back to Grafik now - but am running into a few other display issues. Can you help me with these things?

1) NO MENU ON MOBILE: I have the site set to "Responsive" - but can't see any way to get the "hamburger" menu to display on mobile. Without a visible menu, of course, the site is unusable on mobile. How do I get this mobile menu working, as I see it works on your Grafik demo?

2) SEARCH BOX PLACEMENT: I finally got the search visible and working again in the site - but not like it displays on the demo, which I prefer. The biggest problem I currently have is - on mobile, the search box (which is essential for my site) covers up almost the entire header area. I would like it to display with the style and colors showing in the Grafik demo (saying "Search..." once, not twice - just showing the magnifying glass in the box to the right, not the word "Search" again. Also, in the style and colors displayed on your demo - the dark blue under the header.

3) VERTICAL ALIGNMENT OF SITE TITLE: I would like to have the title vertically aligned/centered with the Hornav menu, rather than pushed lower than the menu. Is there some custom code or other setting that can achieve that?

PS - Please see https://morninglightpublishing.org - on the top right of the table there, you can see a screenshot of the top of my old Joomla 3 site in Grafik - the title vertical alignment and search box style/placement are how I'd like my new J4 version to display also.

----------------------------------

Looking forward to getting these last few items fixed, with your guidance.

Thanks - Carrie Wrigley

5 days now since making this request - and still no response - customers unable to access my site on mobile due to missing menu. Growing concerned.

So far, since renewing my membership months ago, I am not experiencing the level of product quality or customer service I experienced years ago when I first joined J51. Back then, the templates worked great out of the box, and customer service was quick and responsive to resolve any remaining issues.

Now - having a very different experience. Struggling with this long-awaited Grafik J4 template for almost a month now, with issues I can't resolve myself, with little or no response from support. ??

search box: J4 uses smart search instead of com_search. The search box is adaptable , just go to the module

Yes, I've already moved to Smart Search, and experimented with settings in the module. But can't find any settings there that fix the display problems mentioned in this post ("Search" in text next to the magnifying glass, taking up more room, and redundant with "Search for..." right next door; search appearing in right in the header rather than in the space below it; and colors not matching the demo's search box.) In J3 Grafik, this all just worked out of the box. Not so here in J4.

Besides the menu problem and vertical alignment problem detailed in my post.

Hello

I have installed the latest download of the Graphik template and the mobile menu appears to be now displaying without issue.

It appears the styling of the search module in the header area as shown on the template demo is only supporting the standard search module and not the smart search module as used on your site. I am looking into this and seeing can this style be shared with the smart search module.

Thanks Ciaran. Yes, the mobile menu is working great now, thank you.

Glad to hear you're investigating a solution to the search issue. This is a large complex site, so a search function is pretty essential. Today in fact I was counseling a client and looking for a resource on the site, and found the search module missing, so was unable to access that resource for my client. Looks like you unpublished the Smart Search module while you were investigating it.

So for now, I republished that Smart Search module, so the functionality remains available. You can unpublish it again, if you need to, when you work on it again. Hope you can figure out how to get it styled like it shows in the Grafik demo - but I need the functionality to remain active either way.

-------------

I know Grafik has been a particular challenge, in updating it forward from its origins in J2. I appreciate your diligent efforts to update and adapt these elements for J4.

Related question - is it just Grafik struggling with this issue, or does it also carry over into other templates? I have other older sites I used to use Renovate and LetterPress on in J3, which still don't have a J4 version - so I was thinking of plugging in Emani or another newer template for those sites (which have been stuck for months now in Cassiopeia.) Trying to figure out the best path forward from here.

I look forward to hearing your update.

Hi Carrie

I had noticed that the search module wasn't available to you. It seems that the module may have been uninstalled somehow. To resolve you can download Joomla and copy the ../modules/mod_search to the same location in your Joomla installation. You can then go to System -> Discover to installed the copied module.

Where possible I would suggest using our more modern templates. OUr older templates have been built to support long discontinued browser version and are there for not inline with modern development standards.
