I have a few questions related to the Oxygen Template which I am using on my site: http://www.hollowayraisin.maumeevp.org/

1)The email picture in the “Contact Us” bar on the left doesn’t work correctly
a.I highlighted the picture, selected link, selected the email and added the address but a whole bunch of gobldie gook comes up when someone tries to use it.

2)Is there a way to change the color of the wording at the bottom “Joomla Template by Joomla51.com” together so that it can be seen on the sight, right now it’s so dark it blends in with the picture?
a.I tried doing this thru Template Manager: Styles but nothing happened.

3)How do I change the background color of the copywright info so it canbe seen (i.e. where it says website developed by) and is there a way to link it directly to my email address?

4)How do I change the image that currently contains the “Contact Us” info (I created a Custom HTML Module for this part) so that it isn’t duplicated/mirrored (I was able to change the width so it doesn’t show but not the height of the module?
a. Note- I know I can add a background color to sidecol_a but it is square and everything on my site has rounded corners so I would like to avoid that if possible.
b. I tried to change the height in the template.css but that did nothing.
#sidecol_a, #sidecol_b {height:100%;}
c. I also tried adding an image to the template.css file so that I could eliminate the image attached to this module but that didn’t work.
#sidecol_a {background: url("../images/Pictures/Green_Column_Box.png";) no-repeat;}

Hello

1) The link on the image appears to be incorrect. As it should be simply linked to mailto:info@youraddress.com you have mailto:<script type=........

2) Try adding the following CSS to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters..
#joomla51 a {color: #FFFFFF;}
Where #ffffff is your new text color.

3) As with point 1) try linking to mailto:info@youraddress.com

4) I think the best solution here would be to add a background color and then but a radius to the module via CSS.. try adding something like the following to the Custom CSS field...
#sidecol_a .module_content {
background-color:#cccccc;
border-radius:15px;}
Where #cccccc is your background color and 15px is your border radius.

Thanks for the quick response.

1) I did type in mailto:myinfo@address.com and when I go into look at the module it shows but when I click on the link it all gobldie gook. Initially I used the envelop icon next to the URL line (see attached).

2) Worked perfectly, thanks.

3) #1 didn't work and the copywright info is only available on the actual template style which doesn't allow for an email address.

4) I input the code but nothing happend in terms of the radius. I tried increasing it to 25 and still nothing.

Any additional thoughts?

I have a correction...the code to get the background to curve works in Firefox and Safari but not in IE8.

Still need to figure out why the mailto: links aren't working correctly. Also need to figure out how to link my email at the bottom where the copy-write info is.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

The syntax for a mailto link is as follows...

<a href="mailto:someone@example.com">YourText</a>

I am not familiar with the editor you are using to add the mailto link. All else fails you can use Joomlas 'CodeMirror' editor and enter the mailto link as seen above. This should also work for the copyright field within your templates parameters.

IE8 is not fully compatible with CSS3 with some elements like border-radius not been supported.

Thanks for the info. I was able to change the copywrite per your instructions. BTW I am using JCE Editor but the scree that I posted is what pops up when I hit the link button. Then I just click on the mail icon to input the info. I think this is all Joomla based not JCE but then agian I am new to all of this so I could be wrong.

As for the picture that I want linked to an email, according to my script it shows correctly but when a user clicks that link, the mailprogram is opened, but the recipient is not the mail-adress. Instead, the JavaScript for spam-prevention is shown. Here's the code I have:

<br />Email:<br /></strong></span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="mailto:karens@yahoo.com"><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" alt="" src="images/Pictures/email.png" width="49" height="48" /></span></a><span style="color: #ffffff;"> <br /></span></p>

I figured out that it's the email cloaking device. If I go into extensions -> plugins -> content: email cloaking, I can dissable it and all works great. Thanks for your help with this.

Ciarán,
Quick question...is there any way to make the background semi-transparent (i.e. where the articles are posted with the grey gackground)? I know I can change the color but I want what's there to just be a little dimmer and the color I have right now is fine.

The background of the content area uses a single image tiled vertically (http://www.hollowayraisin.maumeevp.org/templates/j51_oxygen/images/content_bg.png). You can edit this image directly to your own taste. As it is a PNG you can also reduce the transparency using a graphics editor like Photoshop.

As always you rock. I did exactly what you said and I love the way the site looks. I don't think I would change anything about it. Thank you for all of your help. You are a great reference for those of us who just dabble in this stuff. Hopefully some day I will have just a smidge of the knowledge you have :)
