Enterprise template: how to setup hornav menu for a multi-lingual site ?

I currently consider implementing an bi-lingual English / French site using the Enterprise template.
From the style modification pane, I get the following text, which raises several questions for me :
"If creating a multi-language site a duplicate menu module needs to be created for the responisve mobile menu. Duplicate each language menu module setting the position to hornav-mobile and set the Menu Tag ID to mobile."
Does this apply only to menus on mobile devices or to the "classical" ones as well ? (I am a little bit confused by the coexistence of "hornav" and "hornav-mobile" positions).
What I understand is that I have to create menu modules for each language. Is that correct ?

  • If yes, how should I fill the "menu" tab in the "modify style" panel ?
  • In particular, which should be the value of the "select top menu" field, since I now have two "duplicate" top level menus ?
  • Is there any language selector module that I can call with this "Enterprise" template ?

Hi Stéphane

You can use Joomlas core language switcher placed in the module position of your choice. To create navigate to Extensions -> Modules -> New -> Language Switcher and set the module to the position of your choice.

One additional question : does the template offer a mechanism for language selection by the user of the deployed site ?

Hi Stéphane

When setting up multiple languages you have 2 possible options..

1. Select a Template style in your 'Template Manager' (Eg. Enterprise - Default) and duplicate it for each language you want. In each of the styles then select the menus to be displayed for that language. You can then set that template style to the language via the 'Languages' dropdown or by assigning the correct menu items via the 'Menu Assignment' tab.

2. Within the templates parameters you will see an option to convert the menu to a module position. Once selected you can then create a menu for each language set to the 'hornav' module position.
